A Welcoming Message from Melanie:
Thank you for visiting our website. I am honored to serve as the City Administrator for the community of Hastings. In my role, I work collaboratively with our management team members and all staff to provide police, fire, public works, building inspections and code enforcement, and parks and recreation services to our community. From an internal services perspective, we also provide Finance, Information Technology, and Communication functions. In addition, we work to partner with our community members to collaboratively support the needs of our community. It is our goal to develop an organization that provides services in alignment with our CORE values: Communication, Respect for Resources, Service, and Enthusiasm.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration/Urban Studies from Mankato State (now Minnesota State Mankato) and a Masters in Public Administration from Hamline University. I am also a Credentialed Manager from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and am currently serving as president of the Minnesota City/Council Management Association (MCMA).
In my role, it is my goal to support and further develop our community services. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
