The Hastings Economic Development and Redevelopment Authority (HEDRA) replaced the Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) and the Economic Development Commission on January 1, 2009.  HEDRA combines the power of an HRA, which includes financial assistance for redevelopment and rehabilitation of commercial and residential properties in order to stabilize and revitalize neighborhoods, with that of an EDA which include financial assistance for the establishment or expansion of businesses to increase the local tax base and job opportunities.

HEDRA serves many roles in the public. These include:

  • Planning and promoting long term commercial, residential and infrastructure improvements within specified redevelopment and development areas.
  • Partnering with citizens, businesses and organizations to achieve results.
  • Facilitating the improvement and reuse of existing infrastructure, buildings and services where possible.
  • Encouraging and assisting historic preservation to support affordable housing, tourism development and job creation.
  • Facilitating the assembly and preparation of sites to assist business and industrial growth.
  • Integrating housing for all ages with transit, commercial services and employment opportunities to save energy and improve the quality of the environment.

HEDRA's regularly scheduled meetings can be watched live on Comcast Chanel 16, or on the City’s website. If you miss a meeting and what to hear the discussion on a particular topic, all past meetings can be watched online when it is convenient for you! HEDRA Agendas and Minutes are available online as well.
