The Administration Department coordinates with the City Council and other City departments to ensure that the policies and goals of the City Council are implemented. The City Administrator is responsible for general oversight of City operations. Personnel functions including recruitment, hiring, and personnel management are also coordinated by the Administration department. Additionally, community relations functions which involve press releases, website development, and newsletters are facilitated by Administration staff. Finally, Administration staff prepares council packets, coordinates local election functions, and prepares and issues City licenses.
Residents may visit City Hall to obtain building permits, license information, assistance with utility bills and other general City information. Over 115 regular full and part time employees help keep the City’s streets plowed, its water tasting good, and residents safe. Paid on-call firefighters supplement the full-time Fire Department, and seasonal employees help operate and maintain other public services, such as warming houses, the Civic Arena, and Hastings Family Aquatic Center.
