City of Hastings Department of Finance 

The City of Hastings Department of Finance has a variety of responsibilities, some as obvious as handling accounts receivable, sending residents their utility bills, and managing the City's budget. However, the department handles a lot more than that on a regular basis. The following is just a glance at the many aspects that the department deals with.

Financial Accounting and Reporting - As required by MN statutes, the Finance Department prepares an annual report. The City is required to undergo an annual financial audit; this report is part of that process and is the City's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The City has received the Certificate of Achievement from the Government Finance Officers Association for this report for the past consecutive ten years.

CAFR reports

Budget Reporting - Another aspect of the financial reporting is the City Budget. Finance calculates and prepares the annual City Budget and property tax levy.

Budget Summary

Payroll - All processing and computation of payroll is handled within the Finance Department. Related optional benefit claims, taxes, retirement, etc. are also processed. All year-end and quarterly tax reporting for the Federal, Minnesota, and Wisconsin governments is completed by Finance staff.
