Opportunities Have you ever considered public safety as a second career? The City of Hastings provides great opportunity through experience and training in firefighting and emergency medical services. Paid-on-call (part-time) firefighter/EMT’s (Emergency Medical Technician’s) provide daily response to emergencies within our community. The Hastings Fire Department currently consists of fourteen full-time firefighter/paramedics and 39 part-time firefighter/paramedic/EMT’s. Most of our emergency responses are staffed with full and part-time firefighter/EMT’s working together side-by-side. This approach provides excellent service through cost-savings and the local benefit of neighbors helping neighbors. The City of Hastings is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team. Paid-on-call firefighter/EMT’s will receive valuable training and experience, which will provide benefit throughout their lifetime. In addition to learning and applying new skills, part-time firefighter/EMT’s receive hourly compensation, service pension, and gratification from helping your community. Potential candidates must be 18 years of age or older, reside within the Hastings community (service area) and meet our eligibility requirements. If you have an interest, stop by today and take your first step in becoming a valued member of our public safety team. Applications are available at your Hastings Fire Department located at 115 W. 5th Street or if you have further questions, please contact Fire & EMS Director Mike Schutt at 651-480-6154. |
