Police Reserve Unit

The Hastings Police Reserve unit is comprised of individuals willing to volunteer their time and service to the citizens of Hastings.

The Hastings Police Reserve unit has been in existence for over 40 years and is a great asset to the Police Department and citizens of Hastings.  Each year members of the unit each provide one hundred hours of service to the Hastings community by assisting the Police Department at numerous community events and programs such as:

  • Rivertown Days
  • Park and Trail Patrol Program
  • Security at Todd Field (for the band show)
  • Security for Eagle’s Club Bike Rally/Fundraiser for Amber Alert
  • Traffic control for Nick Clare Memorial Run
  • Security for Hastings Schools at football games, hockey games, prom, and graduation, etc.
  • Security at the 4th of July fireworks display at the country club/golf course
  • Patrol car ride-alongs (ride along – assist full-time officer during a shift)
  • Many other events such as Gobble Gait, Citywide clean up day
  • Mainstreet Festival and Heritage Days etc.

Members of the Reserve unit are also expected to attend monthly meetings, train in First Aid and Use of Force, and other law enforcement related matters.  A new tool that has been added to the police reserve duty belt is the new Taser.  Every member of the Hastings Police Reserve Unit has been trained in the use of the Taser.

Full time Hastings Police Sergeant Craig Puch serves as liaison for the Police Reserve Unit.  If you are interested in learning more about the Hastings Police Reserve Unit, and possibly joining the unit, please contact Sergeant Puch at 651-480-2300 or Sergeant Puch’s email at cpuch@ci.hastings.mn.us.
