Utilities - Waste water Department

The City of Hastings currently maintains about 85 miles of sanitary sewer lines.  These lines discharge into the regional waste treatment system managed by the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES).  Public Works is responsible for maintaining seven lift stations located throughout the City.

Call Before You Dig - Minnesota State Statute 216D now requires anyone who engages in any type of excavation to provide advance notice of at least two working days to Gopher State One Call (651) 454-0002 or 1-800-252-1166.  Protect yourselves and your property against underground utility damage and liability.  Find out where the underground utility lines might be buried before you dig.  The person who is performing the work is responsible for calling Gopher State One Call (GSOC).  If the owner contracts with a professional excavator to do the excavation then the professional excavator is responsible for calling GSOC.  You will need to provide information about the work site when you call.  The service provided by GSOC to excavators is free of charge.  The cost of GSOC’s operation is paid by underground facility owners.   For further information: www.gopherstateonecall.org
