Meeting Time: 6:00 p.m.
Meeting Location: Hastings City Council Chambers

The Hastings Economic Development and Redevelopment Authority (HEDRA) replaced the Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) and the Economic Development Commission on January 1, 2009.  The HEDRA combines the powers of an HRA with an EDA.

  • HRA powers include financial assistance for redevelopment and rehabilitation of commercial and residential property to stabilize and revitalize neighborhoods.
  • EDA powers include financial assistance for the establishment or expansion of businesses to increase the local tax base and job opportunities.

The HEDRA’s role in the community:

  • Plan and promote long term commercial, residential and infrastructure improvements within specified redevelopment and development areas.
  • Partner with citizens, businesses and organizations to achieve results.
  • Facilitate the improvement and reuse of existing infrastructure, buildings and services where possible.
  • Encourage and assist historic preservation to support affordable housing, tourism development and job creation.
  • Facilitate the assembly and preparation of sites to assist business and industrial growth.
  • Integrate housing for all ages with transit, commercial services and employment opportunities to save energy and improve the quality of the environment.

The HEDRA’s current programs are listed under Building and Development. If you have questions or want to discuss a project, contact the staff.

The HEDRA Board includes five citizens and two council members, appointed by the City Council.
