<description>The Recycle Your Holidays is a seasonal program created by the Recycling Association of Minnesota  that offers free recycling of unwanted and broken holiday lights and electrical cord - such as extension cords.  Every part of the string or cord is recycled, even the little light bulbs. Cord adapters and battery packs are not accepted. As in the past, The Recycling Zone is accepting holiday lights through the Recycle Your Holidays program. Residents are encouraged to bring their unwanted holiday lights and electrical cords to The Recycling Zone for free recycling through January 15, 2011</description>

<title>HPD Officer Bauer Recognized</title>

<description>Hastings Police Officer, David Bauer received the Medal of Valor at Monday's City Council meeting for his August 15th rescue of two young men trapped in the fast moving waters of the Vermillion River.  Officer Bauer himself was pulled under water by the strong currents however, utilizing his extensive water rescue training while in the military, Officer Bauer was able to get to the surface, swim to the stranded victims, and assist the two men to safety at the river's edge where Hastings Firefighters pulled them from the water.  Monday night Bauer was awarded the Hasting Police Department's highest honor for his actions.</description>
