The Hastings Police Department began its Crime Free Multi Housing program in the year 2002. The concept behind the Crime Free Multi Housing program is a multi phase program for rental property owners and managers to work with their local police in screening tenant applications and improving security issues at their rental property.
The Hastings Police Department hosts organizational meetings and classes two to three times each year for rental property owners and managers to attend and receive training and guidelines for the owners/managers to become involved in and by participating the property owners and managers receive assistance and background checks on prospective tenants of their rental property. This allows the rental property owners to be more selective and proactive in screening tenants thus hopefully making the rental property more secure and safer for all of the other tenants and neighborhood the rental property is in.
Officer Lilly Murr coordinates the Hastings Police Department program and if interested in learning more or becoming involved and utilizing this proactive prevention program please contact Officer Murr at the Hastings Police Department.
