The School Resource Officer program was first implemented in the 1970’s. Developed as a partnership between the Hastings Police Department and Hastings School District 200, the program strives to increase school security and reduce school violence, improve relations between students and law enforcement officials, provide students with additional educational resources, and improve school and law enforcement collaboration. The School Resource Officer is assigned to the Senior High School, the middle school and the elementary schools on a full-time basis during the school year.
