City Ordinance prohibits raking leaves and grass clippings into the street for City crews to pick up. This practice can create problems with storm drainage and water quality.
During a rainstorm, leaves and grass clippings can quickly plug storm sewer drains and pipes causing street flooding. Leaves that are washed in the storm system will end up in the City’s lakes and rivers, degrading the water quality and providing a nutrient source for spring and summer algae blooms.
