ADOPT A PARK PROGRAM Adopt A Park is a public service program which allows volunteers to pick up litter, identify safety hazards, and freely communicate other issues associated with a particular park. This program is open to community groups, civic organizations, churches, and individual citizens for a commitment of two years, if possible. Park sites are chosen on a first-come, first-served basis. The suggested frequency of clean ups is once during the spring, once during the summer, and once during the fall. The Parks & Recreation Department will provide trash bags and pick up of full bags. Why Adopt a Park? Litter is unsightly, and destroys the natural aesthetics of our beautiful parks and city. A litter-free community is inviting to visitors and prospective new citizens and businesses as well as our residents. You may also download a copy of the current Adopt A Park brochure for more information. Attention Current Volunteers... We would like to remind you to please inform Hastings Parks & Recreation when you have completed a cleanup of a park.
